I highly recommend using Series Mode surge protectors over standard, cheap MOV surge protectors, because the former possesses superior tech that will seriously protect your sensitive electronic and A/V equipment (even from the constant bombardment of micro-surges that gradually degrade your components). They actually absorb surges and slowly release the energy, and they don't shunt surges to the ground line, so they don't even require a grounded outlet to protect your equipment!
