This kit includes the basic components needed to get your electronics projects communicating with IR light. All parts are perfectly suitable for the Arduino or Raspberry pi (not included) platforms, as well as many others. With this kit you have the flexibility to set up bidirectional communication or individual receiver/transmitter combinations.
Two high intensity, directional TSAL6200 940nm IR LEDs are included. The LEDs can draw up to 100mA of current, have a beam angle of 17°, and produce the correct wavelength for the TSOP4838 module. Four 200 ohm resistors are also included in the kit. One resistor can be used to connect each LED to a standard microcontroller port, or multiple can be placed in parallel for higher output applications. The two included TSOP4838 IR detectors are widely used in many electronic devices and function between 2.5-5.5V. They are reliable, have a digital interface, and require minimal or no external components to function.
This kit does not include instructions for use, however a quick web search will turn up plenty of code and examples. The device datasheet links are available upon request.
