This oxidised convex shaped silver coin is dedicated to the "Orthodox Shrines". In 1613 the Theodore icon was blessed with the enthronement of Mikhail Romanov, in memory of the celebration. A German princess married a Russian grand Duke, taking over Orthodoxy as tradition required, and the Theodore icon began to receive patronymic Feodorovna, in their honor.
There are numerous lists of her. One of the first was commissioned and brought to Moscow by the mother of King Michael - the Nun Martha. This image is venerated as one of the shrines of the Romanov dynasty, which added a whole host of foreign princesses who received the transition to Orthodoxy, not only by name, but also by the middle name in honor of the birth of the icon: Maria Feodorovna (wife of Paul I), Alexandra (wife of Nicholas I), Maria Feodorovna (wife of Alexander III) and Alexandra (wife of Nicholas II) and her sister Elizabeth Feodorovna.
REVERSE
The reverse design depicts the Theodore icon of the Mother of God. The character is designed to match the original icon and offsets itself against the engraved oxidised background. Only the face and hands are coloured, while the rest of the icon is engraved in the face of the coin. You will also find ruby red stones on the coin.
OBVERSE
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
PACKAGING
The coin is packaged inside an elegant and rich wooden box. It is in a beautiful case, which is doing a great job in staging this remarkable coin. The Certificate of Authenticity is displayed on the inner packaging.
