Description
This item advertised the Lincoln Rochester Trust Company, a bank in Rochester, New York, and it is an 'encased' 1956-D Lincoln cent - in which the cent is surrounded by an aluminum 'collar.' The 'heads' side of the collar has the name of the bank, and the 'tails' side has the words:SOUVENIR OF TRIP THROUGH THE BANK
and
LUCKY PENNY
.
The 'collar' was struck very well, with very clear, bold lettering.
This item
measures approximately 36 mm (1-3/8") in diameter.
This item is in extremely fine condition (collar and cent), with very light actual wear, signs of handling, and toning. The aluminum collar has a very good silver color, and it remains very bright. The cent would be described as a 'red and brown' cent by a coin collector due to toning, with some remaining original bright copper color.
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: The photos do not show the item clearly at all. The lettering on the collar is bolder on the actual item, and the collar is much lighter in color and much brighter than in the photos, with a very good silver color. The cent is much brighter than in the photos.
