Description
This is a Silver Colored German Commemorative Coin that appears to be dated August 1861. After much research and unable to find the exact coin, I'll list what I know .The coin is fairly large measuring over 1-3/4 inches across and weighs 22.4 grams. It is Silver in color and I think it is silver plated or nickel plated. The front of the coin has Heinrich Der Loewe on the front, (Henry the Lion who ruled Saxony and Bavaria from 1142 to 1180). The front of the coin reads: HEINRICH DER LOEWE.
The back of the coin has a standing Lion and reads: ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE 1000 JAEHRIGE JUBELFEIER BRAUNSCHWEIGS DEN 20TEN, AUGUST 1861. Loosly this translates to "To remember the 1000 year anniversary celebration in Braunschweig’s 20th" according to translation search on Google.
Condition: The coin definition is in nice condition, there is wear on the plating and there are small nicks and scratches from use and age. The gray spots are from where some patina and some wear. This item is sold as is, please ask all questions before purchasing.
