DESCRIPTIONEncased (44-?) Mercury Dime Neutron Irradiated Museum of Atomic Energy no cover
Host coin VF/EF
A dime that was irradiated by neutrons. The radioactivity induced in the silver nuclei was short-lived (half-life less than 5 minutes)
These are interesting to collect by date and by
the style of the insert around the dimes.
The metal housing is intact; the mylar cover is missing.
“AMERICAN MUSEUM OF ATOMIC ENERGY / NEUTRON IRRADIATED” in black letters, which seem to be somewhat scarcer than blue/cyan letters.
