    Obverse
In the obverse design element of the 1 oz Silver 2020 Germania The Allegories Italia & Germania Round, the two female personifications stand side-by-side in a gesture of warm friendship. Italia is featured with the turreted crown on her head and a pleated dress as she leans on a pedestal next to the Horn of Plenty. Germania stands nearby with her right hand on the shoulder of Italia and her left hand extended out as if to welcome her. The inscriptions on this face include Allegories and 1 oz 999.9 Fine Silver.
    Reverse
For the reverse field, the 1 oz Silver The Allegories Italia & Germania Rounds feature the coat of arms for the Germania Mint. This quartered shield features countless different heraldic design themes prevalent in European history. The crowned shield represents nobility, while the double-headed eagle represents a cultures view of its past and focus on its future. The wild boar in the fourth quadrant symbolizes power and might. Inscriptions on this side of the round read Germania, 2020, and 5 Mark.
    History
Italia dates back to the 3rd century BC in the Roman Empire and is based in the culture of the eastern reaches of the empire in the Anatolia region now known as Turkey. Cybele was a deity of fertility in this region and wore a turreted, or walled, crown. During the Second Punic War against Carthage, Roman priests predicted that only Cybele could save Rome. After a statue of her figure was erected in the city, the Roman Army finally defeated Hannibal and the Carthaginians. From there, Cybeles figure evolved and adapted various characteristics to eventually become Italia turrita, the personification of a unified, peaceful Italy.
