    DESCRIPTION
    The latest small mintage silver bullion coin to hit the market is the first for one of Britain’s myriad overseas colonial era islands situated in the sea between Tanzania and Indonesia, the British Indian Ocean Territory.
    The BIOT is primarily a US/UK military base, and is one of the most important ones they have.
    There’s no native population, as they were repatriated in the late 1960’s.
    Despite that fact, Pobjoy manage to issue coins for the territory and the latest is the first silver bullion coin ever to appear bearing its name.
    It’s a simple design depicting a turtle swimming. There are certainly shades of the NZ Mints long running Taku coin here.
    The obverse carries Pobjoy’s own effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as with all their releases.
