The Duster 340 was a budget priced muscle car capable of running with the big boys. The light weight car was powered by a 340-275 hp motor which many say was closer to 325 hp. This one has #s matching motor and trans. It's a good honest car, I believe the metal is original. The vin matches on core support, driver door and the original fender tag.
EXTERIOR: It's looks the part of a muscle car with it's stripes, spoiler and blacked out hood with scoops. The body is actually very good, there's no rust or damage showing. It's straight and it fits real nicely. The doors and trunk shut easily. Repainted it's original dark burnt orange metallic color. It is an older paint job that has held up well. It is very presentable but does have some imperfections- a few stains and touch ups. It has 14 inch rally wheels, the tires look newer. Chrome and trim appears to be good original. It has optional fender mounted turn signals. Good original glass, the rear quarter windows pop open. Weather strips look real good. sill plates are shiny, has original VIN number sticker in the driver's door.
INTERIOR: It is very tidy inside this car. Down on the floor it has new carpet, the kick panels are excellent. Door panels look to be good original, replaced headliner. In front of me the steering wheel is nice, dash pad looks new, the instrument panel is clean. It has a factory gauge cluster. Upgraded modern stereo with 6x9 speakers. Interior lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This has it's original VIN number matching 340 hp motor. Starts right up and runs great. Upgraded with headers and chrome valve covers. The engine bay is not detailed but it looks proper. The vin on the core support matches the car, the original Fender tag is still attached. Alternator looks new, battery is bolted down and has new cables.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Rock solid trunk floor. It looks like original quarters, I don't see splices. It has the original jack is in place. New trunk mat and weather strip. Bottom of the trunk lid still has it's original paint.
UNDERSIDE: It appears to be a very well preserved original underside. It does have four new shocks. It also has a new custom stainless exhaust with x-pipe, welded seams and MagnaFlow mufflers. The underside of the body appears to be solid. The lower inner quarters are clean, floor pans look nice. It and has welded in frame rails to prevent body twist, it looks like factory did it. It has disc brakes in front, e-brake is still hooked. The VIN number is stamped down by the oil pan that matches the car. 727 Torqueflite automatic also has number matching vin.
1970 was the peak year for muscle cars which makes them the most desirable. This one is not pristine but it is a good honest car. Drive it, enjoy it, show it off and you don't need to spend a fortune!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.
