Utmost 1968 Lincoln Cent Struck on Canada 10 Cents Planchet. Mint Error
Definitely a must have for any serious Mint Error 1 Cent Collector.
An intriguing off-metal error in which a planchet for a Canadian dime (coined in part at Philadelphia that year) that found its way to a cent press. Softly detailed overall with voids on the reverse that match Lincoln's profile.
The planchet used for striking this cent of course was not copper nor was it clad and better yet it was not even meant for a US piece at all. The planchet as created was for a Canadian dime being much harder than either a copper or clad planchet. So when the dies struck the blow there was not enough pressure to impart the design as intended. Thus creating what looks like an already well-worn piece.
Untoned and unabraded. The undersized planchet causes a poor strike, especially on the nearly featureless Lincoln portrait.
The best of the best. Great luster with superb eye appeal. A superior example.
Seldom Offer in this High Grade.
